EC To Announce Poll Dates For Himachal Pradesh Today, Gujarat Soon

New Delhi:The Election Commission will announce the dates for the Assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh at 4 pm today.

A press conference in this regard will be held at 4 pm today where Chief Election Commissioner will announce list of dates of election, phases of election if any. The tenure of the Gujarat Assembly term ends on January 22, 2018, while Himachal's House ends on January 7, 2018.

On the other hand Gujarat polls will be very important for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) because after the grand victory in 2017 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh the stakes are very high and 2019 Lok Sabha elctions will depend a lot on 2017 Gujarat assembly polls. The Himachal Pradesh election is of more importance to Congress than BJP as it is one of the few states left in India where party still has strongholds in the country. "Assembly Elections will mostly be conducted in December", Jyoti said.

Hacker codenamed 'Alf' from Home and Away stole data from defence subcontractor
The hack included information on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, C130 Hercules aircraft and the P-8 Poseidon surveillance aircraft. The company had used default logins and passwords such as "admin" and "guest" and had only one person working on IT.

For the first time, the poll panel will also introduce all-women polling stations in Gujarat in all assembly segments. VVPAT was first used in the Goa polls earlier this year. The Congress won 36 of the 68 seats while the BJP won 26 of the 68 seats. The strength in the 182-member Gujarat House now comprises 115 BJP MLAs, 61 from the Congress, two from the NCP, and one from JD (U). Since 1985, the state has never re-elected an incumbent and the Congress and BJP have exchanged power.

Without waiting for the announcement of the polls dates, political parties have already begun their poll campaigns. The Assembly elections are likely to be held before the end of the year.
