Real Madrid hit with another major injury blow ahead of Espanyol match

Real Madrid may have won two successive Champions Leagues and the La Liga title last season, but their league form this campaign has been very poor.

Portuguese global Cristiano Ronaldo provided the superb assist for the 25-year-old Spaniard who curled the ball at the far corner of the post.

Meanwhile, Marco Asensio and Isco joined Cristiano Ronaldo in the final third as Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema missed out through injury. "I see him in good shape, I see that he is happy and focused", said Zidane during the pre-match presser. But, as always, when a player has even a small problem then we don't want to risk it.

When asked about whether Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted for a contact renewal or not, the manager said that the Portuguese global is in good shape and is most interested in scoring goals by playing more matches. We must prove ourselves again every day - that is what I like about this job, and my players too.

"We would love to play all our games here at the Bernabeu", he said.

"It is a club issue and I'm not getting involved in it", he said.

The Spain worldwide was the star of the show and netted either side of half-time, but again Real looked to be lacking their usual bite, even with talisman Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting lineup for the third straight league game.

Marcelo will likely be replaced by Nacho Fernandez, while Gareth Bale has Lucas Vazquez and Marcos Asensio who have proven to be more than capable of replacing him.

At a time when the Spanish and European champions are struggling for form at home, Isco was the one who took on the responsibility to drive Real Madrid forward, delivering with a double.

Madrid's struggles this season can be highlighted by one weird statistic: They are winless at home in the Bernabeu in La Liga so far this season, with two draws and one loss in league action.
